Six years and 5 months ago we were married.
Six years and 4 months ago we decided to have a baby.
Five years and 4 months ago we found out we were unable to conceive naturally.
Five years ago we decided to look into adoption.
Four and a half years ago we realized adoption was too expensive for us at that point in our lives.
Three and a half years ago we met with a fertility doctor to confirm that we were infertile.
Three years ago we met with an adoption lawyer.
Eight months ago we completed our Home Study.
Six weeks ago we were picked to parent a baby.
Four weeks ago our daughter was born.
We brought our daughter* home 48 hours after her birth and she turned 4 weeks old yesterday. Needless to say it was very quick, very hectic and our lives have been very busy in the past month and a half. Our life has truly changed for the better. And though the process was long and hard and I gave up more than once, I can honestly say the rough road was quickly suppressed (though not forgotten).
Obviously I have more to say on the subject of adoption and on parenthood. All that will come in time. I will try to discipline myself to post at least weekly. But I'm a little busier now that I was before :)
In the meantime- those of you that are on the hard road to adoption- don’t give up, the wait doesn’t seem so long once you are on the other side.
