Short Sunday.4

I'm posting from my Blackberry.I desperately need a laptop. I want a Mac, but they are so dang expensive. What's the best brand of laptop you've ever had? My birthday is soon. Maybe I'll buy myself a gift...

I take it that they are truly worth the amount of money you pay for them? I'm seriously leaning towards a Mac, but I hate spending that much money in one place :)

I think they are worth it. I was an avid Windows lover and switched a year and a half ago, and since then I have bought an iMac and a MacBook. I love the iMac but it'll probably be the last desktop we have; we'll more than likely move to a laptop-only setup in the future with everyone having their own. Anyway, I think Macs are worth it. The operating system is really great and the hardware is really top-notch. I recently installed Windows 7 on my MacBook (dual-booting) though and I was pleasantly surprised. It's really nice! I still prefer OS X. I'm trying not to preach one over the other these days though, considering everyone has a preference.

One last thought... I am not sure how it is for 7, but when I used XP I was having to reinstall the OS AT LEAST once a year to get rid of the bogged down slowness that it would get over time. I was also having to reboot frequently, etc. I've had my iMac since February 2009 and the MacBook since February 2010 and I've never had to reinstall OS X on either one. Also, I never have to reboot because something just isn't working correctly. "Force quitting" applications actually works when an app freezes (even still, a rare occasion to have to force quit).

Do you need a keyboard for typing? If not, have you thought of getting an iPad for surfing, music, and other apps? I've played around on some of my friends' iPads, and they are really cool and great for quick surfing, playing games, doing a crossword, reading a book, things like that. But if you're wanting to use it for typing (like on your blog), it's prolly not that convenient.
